  • Upcoming book on "Alcohol and alcohol-related diseases" edited by Sebastian Mueller and Markus Heilig to be published by Springer Nature in October 2023 with contributions from more than 100 authors from 17 countries

ABOUT CAR

 

Our long term goals are 

  • to better understand underlying molecular mechanisms of liver diseases

  • to improve diagnosis and therapy of liver diseases 

 

Actual translational research topics focus on 

Actual basic research topics are related to

  • molecular mechanisms of oxidative stress 

  • redox-regulation

  • detection of reactive oxygen species

  • novel models for oxidative stress and hypoxia

  • inflammation and iron homeastasis 

  • mechanisms of alcohol-mediated cancerogenesis

  • biomechanics and extracellular matrix (fibrosis and cirrhosis)

Our work is presently funded by the DFG and NIH
